Week 35

A couple of weeks ago, I celebrated a birthday. Here is a picture of my niece Mallory (2 1/2) and me. My grandma started a tradition where we eat frosted angel food cake on our birthday. So my mom has carried that on through out the years. It was comical because my mom brought over my baby book this past week and sure enough there is a picture in there of me on my first birthday with a pink frosted angel food cake! :)

Last weekend the weather was in the mid 60's. It is just down right gorgeous weather, if you ask me. Pete and I both love fall and all the fun things that come along with fall. We decided to take a little trip to the local apple farm to pick some apples and possibily some pumpkins. We had such a great day together picking apples at the orchard, taking pics of the changing leaves on the trees and of course just being outside.

The fruit of the week is a pumpkin.:) Actually, baby is supposed to be the size of a honeydew melon. However through our ultrasounds we have found that baby is actually weighing that of an average newborn, already!

Here is the latest picture that we have of baby D. I could not believe how real this picture looked and I was fascinated with how well we could see baby's facial features. When my mom saw the picture she went straight to my baby book and brought me a picture of me when I was 2 days old. It is so fun to compare baby D and me in these photos. I instantly noticed that baby has a chin like mine. Which resembles that of my grandpa Pete. I grew up hearing people tell me that I have the "Peters' Chin". We'll see if baby will carry on that same feature. :)

Baby has been very active and is growing like crazy! Yesterday at the ultrasound it showed that baby is weighing about 8lbs 9oz right now. We were told that the marginal error is a pound either way!! Everything that they are monitoring each week is well within the normal range with baby. Now with Mama, it's been a different story. My blood pressure has been on a slow rise over the past few weeks. This past week my bp was 160/100, which is the number that they said they would start changing things for me if it got to this level. Since my bp was elevated they sent me over to the hospital and monitored me for 2 1/2 hours. They wanted to see if when I laid down, my bp would eventually come down. Sure enough, after laying on my left side for nearly 3 hours, my bp came down to 140/90. They also drew blood to see if my bp was pregnancy induced or just an occurance of my previous condition. My labs came back completely normal and looked good, according to the nurse. This is all good information because if my bp was affecting other things, they would need to consider inducing me sooner than later. However, with the labs coming back normal, it reflected that baby is doing fine and my body is functioning properly and I just need to lay low for the next few weeks. This is what made the doctors enforce the fact that bedrest is what needs to happen now. I have been battling headaches because my bp is on the rise, but other than that I have been feeling great.
Now it becomes a little frustrating because I have things that I wanted to get done before the baby comes. I have had several people offer help with things, so I'm sure what needs to be done will get done.
The day is drawing nearer!! All this is just making that moment of holding this little one in our arms that much more precious!
