Iowa State Fair 2012
Sometimes pictures say it all!!!! We had so much fun at the State Fair this year.
This was the first year that Cael went through the Little Hands on the Farm, and he had a BLAST!! For those of you that don't know what "Little Hands on the Farm" is, it is a hands-on exploration of concept of "Farm to Table". This is such a great learning experience for not only the little ones but adults as well!
My family has been attending the state fair for entire life. Every August my family plans several visits to the fair and we enjoy every single minute of it! The sights, the smells, the knowledge and of course the FOOD!
Cael still talks about the fair and all of the animals he remembers seeing and touching while we were there. If he is still talking about it, you know it was pretty impressive!
We are all ready to do it again next year! Gotta love the fair!

Things That Fly
Our son loves anything that has a motor, anything that has wheels, anything you can ride and anything that can FLY!
It is that time of year where crop duster are in full force! We have watched probably close to 3 different planes spray fields around us. This was one of the days we were headed to VBS but not before we watched the crop duster across the road spray the corn! He was shouting at it and making all kinds of motor noises, also!

Balloons!
This is the 3rd year in a row that we have made a trip to Indianola for their National Balloon Festival. Once again, we were NOT disappointed! This year we took some friends of ours and their daughter, Payton. They had never been to see the Night Glow, so we invited them to ride along. They were impressed as well!!
As we walked into the field where you can watch them land and also inflate, there was THIS balloon that flew right over our heads! So cool!!

As it got a little darker, more balloons began to inflate. This didn't really keep the little ones attention all that much but the adults were mesmerized! We tried to get the kids to sit still for 1 picture and you can see that was next to impossible, but I was able to capture these two photos! Cael is saying "Cheeeeeeessse"

The sun is setting. Dusk is approaching. The beauty in a sunset is sometimes breath taking.

It is getting a bit darker...

1..........2..........3..........GGGGGlllllllllooooooooooww!

All at once the balloons light up their fires and illuminate the sky! So neat! If you have young kids and live near Des Moines, you have to put this on your "Things to do this summer" for next year! It is such a great time!

Vacation Bible Schol
This year our church took on Vacation Bible School. I stood up and offered to facilitate it. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I offered, but I couldn't be more proud of the effort that our entire church gave to make this possible. The church that we attend is in a small, rural town so reaching families is somewhat difficult. Our church has really started to grow in the past several years, and we are so encouraged.
Here is the video that recapped the entire week!! Seeds were definitely planted this week. Even though we were small in number, I believe we were mighty in TRUTH!!
By the end of the week, the kids that attended every single day could recite to you every memory verse!! That is 5 VERSES!!!! They were so excited to learn them and to tell others. Even Cael, worked to memorize his memory verses! Here is a video of him saying Day 2 memory verse! This was after one day of practicing. He can say it all nearly all by himself. As a matter of fact, he has recited it in his bed as he is falling asleep or waking up and we have heard him through the monitor!
Our theme verse for the whole week was.
How great is the love the father's lavished on us that we should be called the children of God. 1 John 3:1
(sang to the tune of Happy Birthday) Cael can say this one too!! ;)
