Yep...you guessed it... POTTY TRAINING!
Now, just for the record, I am not here to give any sort of tutorial about PT ...because quite frankly...we haven't been completely successful..yet!
I have to give my little boy some credit...he has done #1 quite well in the potty....even in public! *YAHOOOO* We have had several outings (grocery store, library, play dates, church, playground, friend's houses) where he has stayed dry and used the potty with very little resistance. This makes for one happy MOMMY!
I have tried to not let this entire process consume me. I have to keep reminding myself that he is ONLY 2! That means his brain is only capable to handle so much at one time. Even though he speaks like a 3 almost 4 year old ...I have to remind myself that he is only 2. I have to remind myself that his bladder is the size of his hand. I have to also tell myself that he is learning something brand new to him!
So with those reminders throughout the day I've tried to keep it all in perspective.
He is going through a phase right now where he is telling us he doesn't want to use the potty..ever! We take him anyways and try to cheer him on and encourage him even if it is a little bit in the potty. I know that this whole process can be very emotional for children and I really don't want to scare him....or SCAR him! He resists using the potty for #2 nearly every day. This has been frustrating for me because he tells me when he is going....but just REFUSES to sit on the potty to do it. We tried stickers, suckers, games, songs, toys...you name it..but he just refuses to sit on the potty to do this DUTY.
I have started to kind of back off a little bit. I want him to want to do it on his own not me pressuring him.
It will happen.....before he goes to Kindergarten....I KNOW! :)
We will continue to praise him for every little success he makes but in the process...
I pray for patience and gentleness!
