I believe we have a few ultrasound pictures where this was occurring! It is so fun to see it still happening.
It is hard to believe that just seconds before this picture was taken he had a huge grin on his face! I guess the serious look works too.
We are excited to see what 2011 has in store for us! Cael is changing every day. I swear sometimes he wakes up from a three hour nap and I think he looks different! :) Cael thought long and hard about what he desired for a New Year's resolution. He has decided to start the new year out right and SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT!! YAY FOR CAEL! We could not believe it and we thought it was just a fluke the first night. Then the it happened the second night..success. Then the third night...success. Fourth night..success! I think he has stuck to his resolution longer than some adults! Lets hope it is a trend he will work on ALL YEAR! :)
2011 has also brought us a much happier baby! As I mentioned in the previous post, he is well on his way to being happier, and for that we are thankful. A couple of weeks ago the Dr wanted to change his formula to soy just to see if things would change. The doctor also mentioned that it could possibly be acid reflux. However, he was not spitting up very often but he was showing some of the signs and symptoms. She wanted to start with the formula and see what would happen. After one full day of him kicking the bottle out, not finishing it and crying after each one...I was convinced it was more than just what he was eating. I started putting some of the things together that the doctor asked about that kind of matched up better with acid reflux instead of lactose intolerance. I called the doctor the next morning and asked her if we could try the medicine. It was a few days before Christmas and quite frankly, I did not want to deal with a crying baby and one that was not going to eat! So she agreed only because we did talk at length about his signs and symptoms and she felt comfortable doing that at this time. Within 2 days, I would say that we recognized a huge difference in Cael. With each passing day, we were noticing that during the day he was much more content, however in the evenings, he still was kind of colicky, but days were much better! Then exactly 1 week after starting the medicine he started sleeping through the night completely. I am fully convinced that he wasn't sleeping through the night prior because he was waking up for the pain of the reflux. I know from personal experience that acid reflux is very painful! So my heart just broke for my little guy that he had been dealing with that discomfort for a while and it was not dealt with sooner.
But we are SO happy to report that he is doing much better. The last four evenings have been quite peaceful so we hope that the colic has nearly ran its course and will not ever return.
This is going to be a GREAT year, I can tell already!
