The first weekend of June. Pete ran a 20K that was held in Des Moines called the Dam to Dam Race. This is 12.4 miles from start to finish. There were about 8,000 that signed up and ran this event. Pete ran the race in 2 hours and 18 minutes. This was 3 minutes faster than what he ran last year. Here is a picture of him just about ready to cross the finish line!! Way to go, dear!!
After he crossed the finish line we were able to meet up with him and get some of his first comments about the race. He said he felt GREAT! He kept saying that this year was so much better than last year. Maybe because last year it rained the entire race and this year it was sunny and warm...that might have something to do with it!
My nephew, Mason has been playing baseball this summer. The league that he is playing on is full coach pitch with no tee ball. He loves it! His team is actually pretty good. The boys on the team have a good concept of how you play the game, so it makes it fun to watch. I loved this picture of the boys together after his game.
Mason loves Cael! He is so good with him too. Most of the time he is right there with him talking to him and doing silly things to make him laugh. Since my sister and her family are in the process of moving (PTL) they have been living with my parents this month. We have been able to spend a lot of time together. When they move into their new house in 2 weeks, we will miss not having this right next door! They are living fairly close and we will be making lots of trips to their house over the year, I'm sure!
Mallory the "Mother Hen". She loves to spend time with baby Cael! One of the first things she asks when she walks in the door is "Is Cael sleeping?" or "Where's Cael". She wants to play with him and be near him wherever he is. She is incredibly helpful too! We love you Mally!
8 MONTHS OLD
Little Boy turned 8 months old on Fathers Day!! Two special days wrapped into one!! Eight months ago, this little boy was inside my belly....this is something that Pete and I recall often! We look at him and think how in the world did this little boy fit inside me?! Amazing!
These days Cael is doing lots of new and exciting things!
~Army crawls--about 2 weeks ago he decided to go after a ball that he saw and just started "crawling". My mom, dad, Pete and I all saw it happening. It was pretty cool!He has even developed a small blister on the end of this left toe because of all the scooting he has been doing!
~Sprouting 2 teeth--FINALLY! This has taken a awhile, which I am told is quite normal, but he is just now starting to get two white spots poking through his gums!
~Starting to work to pull himself up to a standing position. This is just in the beginning stages but it wont be long now, I'm sure.
~Longer Naps--FINALLY! He has been much more happier and tolerable now that he is sleeping longer during the day. I can get some things accomplished as well.
~Still sleeping about 11-12 hours at night. We are thrilled that this is still occuring and hopes it does until he graduates high school! ;)
~Starting to dislike the thinner (2nd) baby foods. He is discovering the different textured foods. He loves the puff snacks that he can feed himself.
You know its just like a lot of things in this little boys world...He KNOWS what he WANTS and doesn't want!!
Fathers Day
"Fathers Day was a bit more special this year", said Pete. Yes, it sure was. Cael has been given a special man for a daddy. I have no doubt in my mind that his daddy will encourage him, challenge him, guide him and lead him to be a Godly man. Cael is so lucky to have this man as his daddy!
On Father's Day it was pretty warm so we decided to let the boys go for a swim! I think little boy had a great time. He started out in a floatie but couldn't reach the water and just wanted to splash. So Pete ended up holding him while he splashed and splashed! You can see in the photo all of the water droplets that were falling on his face. He didn't seem to mind though!
I think this was a perfect end to a super day celebrating an event that has been longed for.
