Before the detasseling season started we tried to enjoy some down time as a family.
This past spring Pete's schedule was full and our time together was pretty sparse. As we contemplated taking a vacation, we both agreed that just being home every day all day would be a great change of pace. And so we did just that!! No where to be, no one to answer to, no deadlines...just US.. and we loved it! Between the cooking big breakfasts together and the "no plans today" routine..we relished every moment of our stay-cation.
While on our stay-cation Cael managed to get his first little sunburn! :( Oh my, I do not get the "mommy of the year" award on this one. But to my defense, the day he did burn it was really cloudy, chilly and windy. Oh well, I guess I learned my lesson.
We both agreed that it will not be his last sunburn and are so thankful it wasn't much worse.
Swimming-
We went to a hotel to meet some family that were back for the fourth of July. While we were at the hotel visiting Pete decided to take Cael swimming. Of course, I left the camera at home so I do not have any pictures of him in the water. My mom thought it was be funny to spike his wet hair after he was swimming and it stayed.
Lil boy is learning how to wave BYE-BYE!!
Of course summertime would not be complete without trips to my parents pond!! We spend many weekend down there around a campfire, roasting hot dogs and smores, fishing, talking, kids playing in the sand, and eating!
Cael loves WHEELS! He is just fascinated with things that have wheels. So daddy decided to take him for a ride on two different vehicles with wheels! He was quiet the whole time, because he was taking it all it! Daddy also drove him over to watch his Uncle load up the maneaur spreader with a skid loader! Once again, things with wheels...or maybe I could just say, he is already into "boy toys"!!! I love it!
I just love watching Cael learn. I love to watch his little eyes when he see something new. I love to watch his face when he is processing everything around him. I love to see his face light up when he see familiar faces.
We were able to take in quite a few of those moments this months as we just slowed down and enjoyed life. Its amazing what we see when we slow down and "smell the roses".
