I shared in the last post that Pete was offered and accepted a new job at a new school. WHY? Why are you leaving? Where are you going? How come now? Isn't it a pay cut? These are all questions that we have been asked several times in the last couple of months and with full confidence we feel that God has made the answers very clear to us...GO! TRUST! BE A LIGHT!
These three phrases have been reverberating in both of our minds quite loudly over past few months. We both have felt the nudge to GO! However, when our minds try to process all the fine details we say "there is no way". So WE say..um..OK. As we timidly take a step forward. This is where we hear TRUST! The peace that we both felt when we took that step forward was indescribable. We both have to war against those doubts that seep into our minds every once in a while. Then there are comments from other people that make us start to doubt again. The biggest question that we struggle with the most is "Isn't this new job a pay cut?". YES..YES IT IS! And after we cut our income in half with me staying home two years ago AND now cutting even more of our monthly income out with this job transfer puts our family in a tight place. This is something that Pete and I both struggle with on different levels and have to just TRUST (again) that God will provide for our every need if we seek him first.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you
BE A LIGHT
Currently we live in small town community but work in a bigger community/school district. Pete is currently working for the school district that I worked in for 9 years before Cael. This school district has been such a great, powerful learning experience for the both of us. The things that we have learned from the people and students there has been valuable. We both have a greater grasp on just how important it is to have SALT and LIGHT in a dark place! Although the struggles of just day to day things that you encounter as an educator can feel daunting at times...it was in those times that we felt and saw GOD work the most! And for that we are BLESSED!
As I mentioned, we both have such a passion to be SALT and LIGHT.
According to Matthew 5:13-16
"You are the SALT of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
We want to be an active part of what God is doing in and around our community so that his name and renown is made known! People need to see Jesus in us and they need to hear the good news that Jesus loves them! So what better way to do this than to GO and be a part of this world. Greater is HE that is in ME than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)So what should I fear in this world? (John 16:32-34) Pete and I both believe that being an active part of this community will directly affect Cael's life as well.
So, once again, as we hear
GO! TRUST! BE A LIGHT!
running through our heads we can't help but humble ourselves before our Heavenly Father and utter "Your will be done."
