Road Trip to St. Louis

Pete and I decided a few months ago to take a road trip after school was out. This is something that we look forward to each summer break. So we made a list of a few places that we would like to go. Then we made a list of all the places that we have road tripped to including Pittsburg; Sandusky,Ohio; Chicago, Ill; Wisconsin Dells; Branson; Colorado Springs; Dumas, TX; Oklahoma City; Minneapolis; Omaha; and Kansas City. Looking at our list we noticed that we were beginning to run out of destitations that we could drive to.

We have some dear friends that moved to St. Louis, Missouri a little over a year ago. Todd and Mindy have been a very important part of my life. They were my youth group leaders when I was in High School. Throughout High School, I baby sat their three boys and spent quite a bit of time at their house. When I was a freshman in high school, 16 years ago, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at a youth conference in St. Louis ;). Todd and Mindy really took me in and helped me learn more about having a genuine faith. They have influenced my life more than they will ever know. As I face parenthood, I can't help but reflect on this family and their strong Godly values. Thanks Todd and Mindy for being that 'light' to me (us) then and now!

On Friday, Mindy and I hung out while the boys went to Six Flags. This was very sad for me because I love amusement parks. But with the temps being around 100 and my "condition", I felt I would be no fun to be with them. I did send Pete a text that day that said "Im jealous. But I will take baby flutters over roller coaster flutters any day!!" While Mindy and I were shopping she got a text from a friend that had 3 free tickets to the Chris Tomlin concert that night. Mindy and I both enjoy Chris Tomlin and thought it was a no brainer..of course we will take the tickets! So while the boys went to Joes Crabs Shack and watched Avitar, Mindy and I went to this great concert!

Even though we are both "Cubs Fans", we thought it would be really fun to scope out the new Busch Stadium and catch a Cards game. The stadium is just blocks from the Arch, which is something that I wanted to see, we hit both of those on Saturday afternoon. There was as storm blowing in so our visit to the Arch was fast and furious so that we could make it to the stadium before it down poured. It rained only a little bit and this blew over. We were not able to go up into the Arch because the wait was going to be too long. I guess this will have to a family vacation in the years to come.
The whole bunch waiting for the game to start.

I know you might be asking, 'why are you wearing a cardinals shirt if you are a "cubs fan"?' We decided we didn't want to stick out too much and besides what is the saying "Been there, done that, got a t-shirt"! :) We loved the Arch in the background and thought it would make a great picture!

Pete and I had such a great time seeing these special friends. Even though they are far away they are still near and dear to our hearts!! Vacations are always fun but Pete and I agree that they make your heart grow to love your HOME!
