Week 22

The Fruit of the week is..
Now this is actually the fruit for week 21 but I did not have the current week's fruit in the house! :)

I can't hardly believe that it is week 22! We are half way there! That is kind of a scary thought, too! I had an appointment this week and it was quick check up. I got to hear the baby's heart beat which was 148bpm. The doctor placed the sonogram wand on my belly trying to pick up the baby's heartbeat and I hear the doctor say "oh..well..oh". I kind of started to chuckle a bit. He then proceeds to tell me that Baby Drury was kicking where he was trying to listen intently! I felt the little flutter but I could really hear the THUD on the sonogram! Speaking of kicking, I have been feeling a lot more movement lately. The other night I was laying flat on my back in bed and I started to feel the baby kicking. I told Pete that he needed to try and feel this happening. So I kind of took a deep breath and let out slowly...and we waited..then..THUMP! :) Then I took another deep breath and we waited..then..THUMP! We both just laughed. This was the first movement that Pete had experienced so he thought that was pretty cool.

We went shopping last week for some baby furniture. Pete is running a detasseling crew this summer and we know that the weeks to come are going to be hectic. So we thought if we could cross some things off of our list now that would be great! We set up to visit a few places in Des Moines. I wanted to stop at this consignment store that my sister and I stop at from time to time. This place is full of all kinds of kids/babies things. This was the item that Pete was pretty proud about finding and buying!

This was actually the purchase I was so thrilled to find! Talk about being in the right place at the right time. We walked in and I saw this car seat on top of the rack. We got it down and started inspecting it. This seat looked like it had never been used. We both were combing through it, trying to find something like a tear, a rip, a stain...NOTHING. Nice! Then I looked back up on the shelf and noticed another base sitting up there. I looked at the tag and noticed that they were sold together! Wow..really?!! We ended up paying $86 for the combo! This exact same car seat at Babies R Us was selling for $180 with the extra base sold seperately! *SNATCH*

These are a few of the purchases that day. We did not buy the closet organizer from the consignment store. The Iowa State jersey, however did come from that great consignment store! That was another one of Pete's finds!

The newest addition to the Drury house...introducing Gus! My mom had an outdoor cat have kittens. We would go over and could watch them play for hours. I fell in love with this little black kitten and thought about bringing it home. So we finally did and I have to say he is one of the best kittens we have ever had. Every time you pick him up he purrs and is just such a mild little guy! We named him after the black an-GUS cows we have on the farm!! :)
